Recently Active Rising Threat of DocuSign Phishing Email Attacks

Britec Security Threat Alert: DocuSign Phishing Increase

DocuSign eSignature is document signing software that you can use to legally—and securely—collect approvals online in minutes. It is software that is widely and frequently used. Recently there has been a surge in phishing attacks impersonating DocuSign.  These phishing emails use psychological manipulation tactics along with their technical skills to try and get you to open the malicious mimic’s email hook.

Warning Signs of the DocuSign Phishing Email:

Are you expecting the DocuSign Email: If not please, just delete the email and notify the sender that they may have been compromised.

Sender Email Address: Verify that the sender’s email address matches an official DocuSign domain (e.g., @docusign.com). Be cautious if it deviates from this.

Urgent Language: Phishing emails often create a sense of urgency to prompt swift action. Be wary of emails demanding immediate attention or threatening consequences for delayed response.

Unusual Attachments or Links: Avoid opening any attachments or clicking on links within the email if they seem unusual or unexpected. Legitimate DocuSign emails usually direct users to log in securely on the DocuSign website.

Request for Sensitive Information: DocuSign will never request sensitive information (such as passwords or financial details) via email. Be skeptical of any email asking for such information.
